Beyond the 'I'm Fine' Mask
I'm learning something these days -- instead of my usual "I'm good" when asked how I was doing, I decided to pour a little bit of honesty when I really am not fine: "Actually, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed."
You know what surprised me? The relief in being real. The way it gave others permission to be honest too. One by one, masks started coming off. Real conversations emerged.
We're all carrying something behind our "I'm fine" responses. Maybe it's time we normalized being authentic about where we're really at. Sometimes, healing starts with simply being honest.
As Galatians 6:2 reminds us, "Carry each other's burdens." When we're real with each other, we create space for God's love to work through community. Your honesty might be the very thing someone else needs to feel less alone.
