The Power of a Whisper When Life Feels Too Loud

Oftentimes, my mind would race with deadlines, family responsibilities, and that endless mental checklist that seems to grow longer each day. I may be at home relaxing, it was quiet, but my thoughts were screaming.

Ever had a moment like that? I often times joke that it's probably the adult ADHD. But really, I'm just burned out. Just too busy to slow down. No peace. Just mental chaos.

Moments like these make me want God to intervene in a big dramatic way. Like perhaps solve the problem or find solutions or show a miracle.

But God oftentimes do not operate that way.

It reminded me of that story about Elijah – how God wasn't in the earthquake or the fire, but in the gentle whisper.

Isn't it interesting how we're always waiting for God to show up in big, dramatic ways? We want burning bushes and parting seas. I've discovered that God often speaks in whispers we almost miss.

Sometimes it's in the morning light streaming through your window, reminding you that each day is a fresh start. Other times it's in your child's laughter floating from another room, calling you back to what really matters. Or maybe it's in that moment of clarity while washing dishes, when suddenly you realize you've been holding your breath for weeks.

These whispers aren't consolation prizes when we don't get the dramatic signs we're looking for. They're intimate invitations, like a friend leaning in close to share a secret. They remind us that maybe, just maybe, peace isn't found in the absence of noise, but in the presence of something more real than our chaos.

The world will keep spinning at its frantic pace. But God's whispers remain, teaching us that sometimes the softest voice carries the strongest truth.
